I agree with Nelson Mandela: “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”
There will be times when we will still feel fearful, even after tapping. Fear in itself isn’t a bad thing, it’s just the part of us looking out for danger.
Courage is seeing what could go wrong and still acting in the face of possible failure.
Today we are going to tap to take action even when we feel fearful.
Being Courageous Does Not Mean We Are Free Of Fear
(audio 3m10s)
There are times when I’m afraid…There are times that I worry…And that fear can be crippling…And I really hate that crippling sense of fear…I hate feeling stuck…I hate feeling like I can’t act…And there’s a part of me…That thinks I must completely eradicate that fear…Before I can take action…And it would be great to be fear free…But there are going to be times…Where I recognize the fear is pointing out danger…And I still know what’s the right choice for me…And so I will listen to that fear…And be aware of what it’s worried about…And I will still take bold, determined action…I will still move forward confidently…I give myself permission…To know that it’s OK…For me to make bold choices…Even when I’m afraid…Fear does not have to stop me…Fear does not have to control me…It simply needs to put me in a place…Where I can move forward…In such a way…Where I’m aware of danger…And I still take bold action…I can overcome fear…I can act through fear…Fear does not define me…I choose to act boldly today.
Sooooooooo true! Sometimes a project that does not excite me is left undone for far too long (and continues building!!) Recognizing that it’s fear of the size and the nature of the project that’s been blocking me helps me shift that feeling making it possible to start, even with baby steps. The danger of fobbing it off again would be so easy to give into. Feels soooo much better to be in charge of my decisions and actions :-)
