Stretching ourselves is scary, but there are very few times in my life in which I regretted stretching.
Today we are going to tap in celebration for the times we have stretched in the past and the courage to keep stretching in the future.

There’s a part of me that recognizes the fact…That stretching can be painful…Stretching means I’m in uncomfortable places…Doing uncomfortable things…Being seen in uncomfortable ways…And recognizing uncomfortable truths…And it’s not a lot of fun…Because when I’m in the middle of being stretched…I can see those obstacles…I can feel the pain…And I’m not at the finish line yet…I am still in process…But I recognize the fact…That when I am stretched…Good things come from that…I see myself in new ways…I see the world in new ways…I recognize things about myself that I didn’t recognize before…I see new skills that I have…I see new strength that I didn‘t know was there…I heal things quicker that I didn’t think I could release…I don’t have to go running headlong into stretching…I don’t need to be stretching every minute and every moment of every single day… But I do recognize the fact…That when I stretch…It is good for me…Benefit comes from that…Even if it’s a lot when I’m in the middle of it…So, today, I celebrate the times I have stretched…I celebrate the courage I had to stretch…And I celebrate the effort I put forth to get through the stretching…And I celebrate the benefit on the other side…Because there truly is benefit on the other side…Stretching is good for me…I don’t have to do it all the time…But when I do it, I know good things come.
Ironically found this right after I started yoga. I am stretching in so many new ways!
Thanks for all you do Gene.
“I know that when I stretch, good things come.” Thanks!
What a salutory reminder! These things I know, yet, when faced with the seemingly unending list, deciding what to prioritize and feeling that I’m making any headway can definitely be overwhelming. What a beautiful, calming affirmation. I feel ready to get going. Thank you.
PS Yes! I remember many times in the past when I’ve really stretched myself and each time has been SO rewarding. Definitely worth it. Every time.
I needed this for a radio interveiw I’m doing later today!
